Discova is searching for a Legal Counsel/Company Secretary to support our global destinations!

About the Opportunity

As our company Legal Counsel/Secretary, you will be responsible for ensuring the business meets its legislative and regulatory requirements in the countries in which Discova operates. This will require the successful applicant to perform the work themselves or engage with a range of advisors in each country, including legal and/or company secretary services.

Your main responsibilities are:  

  • Compliance management, including but not limited to: Taking a lead in the direction, management and administration of compliance obligations, working with auditors, regulators, legal advisors and colleagues, championing compliance and risk within Discova, identifying the legislative and regulatory requirements in the respective jurisdictions in which Discova operates.
  • Compliance reporting, including but not limited to: Regular reporting on key compliance requirements to Discova management, keeping up with current changes on all relevant areas of laws and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the company’s compliance function.
  • Business partnering, including but not limited to: Provide legal support and advice to business leaders on relevant legal issues and compliance matters, form broad trusting relationships across the business to identify and escalate issues as and when they arise.
  • Quality Incident & Risk Management

About you

The Essentials:

  • A bachelor’s degree in law from a reputable law school is required
  • Fluent in national local language and intermediate to advanced level of written and spoken English
  • An individual who has strong communication skills and capabilities in managing legal/compliance issues in multiple jurisdictions and diversified backgrounds is desirable

  • Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Adaptable to a dynamic and ever-changing environment across various time zones
  • Ability to dive into the details and develop a greater understanding of the Discova operations and compliance framework requirements
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Able to remain calm and approachable under pressure
  • Comfortable working outside office hours when required, potentially including late nights and early mornings
  • Highly organised approach to work
  • Willing to travel on business when required
  • Personally aligned with Discova’s company purpose and values
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications would be an advantage
  • Commercially savvy and a non "black letter" approach
