Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel provide business travel management services for SME sized organisations.  Our business travel solutions help make business travel easier, more cost effective and more seamless. The B2B sales team are responsible for finding and converting new business, and as travel is returning our market is growing!  We are currently the market leader for business travel in Australia and we have the highest brand recognition of all competitors, so you’re joining a winning team!

A Business Development Representative (BDR) is often the first insight a prospect has into Corporate Traveller, Flight Centre Business Travel (FCBT) and/or Flight Centre. The BDR is expected to drive high volume interactions with right fit prospects, in a customer centric, solutions orientation, consultative style. 

A Business Development Representative will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. The ideal applicant will be results-driven, detail-oriented, and will possess an overwhelming desire to hit sales expectations. 

The right candidate will be a creative, customer-focused individual and excel in a collaborative work environment with the Sales Team. This person will possess high-communication skills and a strive for development within their sales career. This is an office-based inside sales position with high volume of phone based sales activity including outbound cold calls. 

  • New lead generation and targeted market research 
  • High volume of outbound sales activity including cold calls, emails and Linkedin 
  • Use FCTG Sales Enablement and Marketing Tools consistently every day to carry out high volumes of targeting prospect outreach including High Velocity Sales, Eloqua 
  • Follow up of inbound lead enquiries  
  • Appointment-setting for BDM team 
  • Tracking and self management of all activities through CRM database (Salesforce) 
  • Opportunity for growth within 1-2 years 

Primary duties and responsibilities (KRAs): 

  • Maintain and expand client data in CRM eg. identify multilevel relationships for key accounts 
  • Understand Corporate Traveller and FCBT’s customer needs and requirements 
  • Ongoing development of expertise in Corporate Traveller and FCBT’s  products and services 
  • Collaborate with BDM Team to convert opportunities 
  • Support Sales Team with Event Management  
  • Work closely with Marketing on inbound leads management and strategy 
  • Manage sales enablement tools including High Velocity Sales to implement prospect cadences 
What a typical day looks like:
  • As a BDR you will start your day on the phones! Being well-integrated into our sales automation platforms, you will have been well organised in previous days that you can start calling prospects early - as soon as you get in the office.  You will be speaking to key decision makers for travel within businesses - generally MDs, CFOs, procurement, or office managers/EAs.
  • You will be on various chat groups and video conference internal team meetings and communications throughout the day - as a key part  to your success is the support, encouragement and accountability you have with your team - the National Inside Sales Team, some of which are based in your office but the most of which are based interstate.  This team has a great culture and you will laugh a lot throughout the day!
  • You will be setting meetings throughout the day for the BDMs to meet with businesses who fit our profile (SME businesses who travel) attend some customer meetings (via Zoom) with the allocated BDM here and there.  You will also do various training and role play sessions throughout the day - as a key part of this role is learning and developing along your 1-2 year pathway to become a BDM.
  • At the end of the day you will check in with your team and see who has achieved their goals for the day - and this is a process you love as being a high achiever, this sense of team accountability and competition is what drives you!
Key accountabilities & desired experience: 
  • Inside Sales experience is highly regarded
  • Achievement of personal sales targets on a weekly, monthly and year to date basis 
  • You are to expect monthly and quarterly 1:1 meetings with your State Sales Leader and Inside Sales Team Leader to evaluate key performance metrics and your development or ‘brightness of future’ (BOF) plan which you will have full ownership over driving. 
  • Proven inside sales experience 
  • Track record of high volume sales activity & new lead generation for B2B Strong phone presence and experience in high volume calling & appointment setting 
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM 
  • Degree Qualified (Highly Desired)
