As a Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the design, development, and delivery of innovative technical solutions that support customer and business outcomes. You will lead a team of engineers, champion modern software engineering practices, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with product teams, architects, and stakeholders, you will influence technical direction while mentoring and developing engineering talent.
You'll be joining the MyAccount team, responsible for customer account and profile management across 4 FCTG brands — covering login, account details, and preferences for around 700,000 members globally. The stack is TypeScript, React, and Next.js on the frontend, a Fastify API backend, and Auth0 for authentication.
Day to day:
Lead the design, development, and delivery of technical solutions that align with customer needs, business objectives, and engineering best practices
Provide technical leadership across the team by guiding solution design, resolving technical challenges, and identifying capability gaps in collaboration with architects and stakeholders
Coach, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering a high-performing team culture and supporting individual and team growth
Champion Agile ways of working, continuous delivery, test automation, and engineering excellence to improve team effectiveness and delivery outcomes
Drive modern software engineering practices, including secure coding, management of technical debt, and adoption of contemporary architecture patterns such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and serverless solutions
Ensure the reliability, security, and ongoing support of production systems through proactive risk management, security reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
You'll be perfect for the role if you have:
7+ years' professional experience in a senior software engineering role
Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent industry experience
Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles, practices, and software delivery methodologies
Strong knowledge of modern software engineering principles, secure coding practices, and solution design
Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams while building strong stakeholder relationships
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage competing priorities, identify risks and opportunities, and deliver business outcomes
Experience with modern architectural patterns such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and serverless solutions; experience within travel, retail, or internet-scale environments is highly regarded
