The Travel Academy is Flight Centre's externally facing education business that offers a university level Diploma in Travel and Tourism.
The Content, Academic, and Instructional Design Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of educational content and instructional delivery of a tertiary level qualification.
This position is responsible for collaborating with external stakeholders, subject matter experts, and the Flight Centre Travel Academy (FCTA) business to design, develop, and implement innovative and engaging instructional materials, courses, and programs. The specialist will ensure that all educational content aligns with best practices in pedagogy, technology, and adult learning theory.
What you will be doing:
Ensure and oversee the compliance and adherence of course content to tertiary practices and governance through effective coordination and management
Conduct regular reviews and updates of existing course materials to maintain relevance, accuracy, and alignment with learning outcomes
Work closely with Facilitator Team to ensure learning outcomes and assessment strategies and processes are met
Monitor and assess student feedback, performance data, and learning analytics to make data-driven improvements to course design and delivery
Design and develop a content and academic review plan and calendar for the next 12 months
Maintain and enhance subject learning content to ensure alignment to learning outcomes
Regular meetings with stakeholders (internal and external) to analyse, design and develop high quality content and align to student learning objectives for our subjects and FCTA programs
Train internal stakeholders of appropriate procedures and policies
Apply instructional design principles to create engaging learning experiences (online and face-to-face) that cater to diverse learning styles, promote active learning, and encourage critical thinking
Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design and educational technology to continually improve course quality
Stay current with Travel and Tourism industry trends
Facilitation: online facilitation including tutorials, Q&A, workshops and O-Week sessions)
Grading and assessing of student assessments (reports, essays, presentations, case studies, and practical assessments across all subjects)
Student Involvement: maintain communication with students via coaching calls and end of semester calls
What you will need:
Minimum 5 years broad Travel and Tourism industry experience is essential
Facilitation / online facilitation experience
Minimum 2 years Instructional Design experience is essential
High-level understanding of instructional design principles, pedagogical theories, and adult learning methodologies to create effective and engaging learning experiences
Graduate Certificate of Teaching and Learning / relevant qualification (desirable)
Hours: Standard business hours Monday to Friday
Salary: $95 k p.a. plus superannuation/bonus
