The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading high-performing engineering teams to deliver quality software platforms that achieve business outcomes. This role focuses on people leadership, delivery management, and technical excellence whilst ensuring systems are secure, performant and maintainable.

Day to day:

  • Lead one or more engineering teams, and overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development for direct reports
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering culture centred on autonomy, collaboration, and psychological safety
  • Partner with product, business and engineering stakeholders to deliver business outcomes, support agile practices, remove blockers, and manage dependencies to maintain delivery momentum
  • Monitor and improve delivery predictability, team velocity, and sprint outcomes
  • Define engineering strategy and technical direction while collaborating with Tech Leads to establish and uphold standards, code quality practices, and best-practice engineering approaches
  • Oversee technical decisions and architecture reviews while driving and prioritising technical improvements, platform enhancements, and technical debt reduction
  • Ensure systems are high quality, secure, performant, and maintainable, and stay current with technology trends to identify opportunities to introduce new technologies that enhance product delivery and team capability
  • Manage team capacity planning and resource forecasting to meet delivery commitments, support budget management and cost optimisation, and report on team performance

 

You'll be perfect for the role if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years experience managing and leading engineering teams in an agile environment
  • Experience in developing and implementing engineering processes and procedures
  • Experience working in travel or other product-lead environment at scale
