About The Opportunity

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is seeking an experienced Salesforce Sr. Solution Architect to join our global technology team. As a Salesforce Sr. Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and designing innovative solutions on our Salesforce platform, driving digital transformation, and enhancing customer experiences across our travel ecosystem.

Following the successful modernization of our legacy Salesforce instance, we are now focused on leveraging cutting-edge Salesforce technologies to enable business growth and operational excellence. Our Salesforce implementation spans the entire customer lifecycle—from Marketing Cloud engagement and Sales Cloud automation to Service Cloud operations and advanced support capabilities. We're actively expanding our omnichannel presence with Service Cloud Voice, Einstein AI, Agentforce, and Data Cloud integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Own the end-to-end solution architecture for Salesforce applications across Sales, Service, Experience, and Platform capabilities.
  • Design scalable, secure, and resilient Salesforce solutions using a combination of:
    • Apex (where required)
    • Lightning Web Components (LWC)
    • Flows and Declarative Automation
    • Salesforce APIs (REST / SOAP), Platform Events, and Event-Driven Architecture
  • Define architectural patterns and standards aligned with Salesforce best practices and enterprise principles.
  • Translate complex business, functional, and non-functional requirements into clear, well-documented solution designs.
  • Lead solution design discussions and architecture reviews with business stakeholders, product teams, developers, and external partners.
  • Drive the introduction and adoption of Einstein, Agentforce, and AI-enabled capabilities into platform solutions where they deliver measurable value.

Platform Architecture, Governance & Quality

  • Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements across regions and orgs.
  • Define and enforce governor-limit-aware design patterns, security models, and data access strategies.
  • Review and approve technical designs and key implementation decisions.
  • Establish architectural guardrails to balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with development leads to ensure quality, testability, and operational readiness of solutions.

Integration & Data Architecture

  • Design Salesforce-centric integration architectures with internal and external systems using established Salesforce integration patterns.
  • Define system-to-system communication models including:
    • API-led integrations
    • Event-driven integrations
    • Near-real-time and batch data synchronization
  • Provide architectural oversight for data models, data flows, validation, and data quality across the ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with enterprise and integration architects to ensure alignment with broader technology landscape.

Delivery Enablement & Technical Leadership

  • Partner with the Product Owner to jointly shape solutions that meet business objectives while remaining scalable and sustainable, with the Product Owner accountable for requirements and scope, and the Solution Architect accountable for solution design and architectural integrity.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Salesforce developers and delivery teams.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical and architectural decisions.
  • Support delivery teams through design clarification, trade-off analysis, and solution optimization.
  • Enable consistent delivery through reusable patterns, reference architectures, and shared components.

DevOps, Environments & Release Strategy

  • Define and support environment strategies, deployment models, and CI/CD best practices for Salesforce.
  • Ensure solutions align with established DevOps pipelines, version control standards, and change management processes.
  • Partner with release management to reduce deployment risk and improve release velocity across environments.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Stay current with Salesforce releases, roadmap changes, and emerging platform capabilities.
  • Continuously assess and improve platform architecture to reduce technical debt and improve agility.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and platform enhancements to increase productivity and business value.
  • Influence platform strategy by identifying gaps, risks, and future-state improvements.

Own and maintain high-quality architecture documentation & deliverables including (but not limited to):

  • Solution Architecture Diagrams:  End-to-end view of Salesforce components, integrations, data flows, and system interactions.
  • Integration and Data Flow Designs:  System-to-system flows, integration patterns, event models, and data ownership definitions.
  • Architecture Decision Records/Log:  Documented design decisions, alternatives considered, trade-offs, and rationale.
  • Non-functional Requirements:  Performance, scalability, security, availability, compliance, and data residency considerations mapped to solution components.
  • Architecture Principles, Standards & Guardrails:  Declarative vs code rules, integration standards, security patterns, and design constraints.
  • Reference Architectures & Reusable Patterns:  Approved solution patterns to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency across teams.
  • Security & Access Model Design:  Role hierarchy, sharing model, permission set strategy, and data access controls.
  • Integration Inventory & API Contracts:  Catalogue of integrations, payload schemas, authentication models, SLAs, and versioning approach.
  • Environment, Deployment & Release Strategy Inputs:  Environment purpose, deployment sequencing, CI/CD alignment, and release risk mitigation.
  • Future-State Architecture & Technical Debt Register:  Target-state designs, known gaps, risks, and a clear remediation or evolution path.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Equivalent practical experience designing and delivering enterprise Salesforce solutions may be considered in lieu of some formal education or certifications.

    • Formal or practical training in:
    • Distributed systems & integration patterns
    • API design and event-driven architectures
    • Identity, security, and access management concepts
    • Familiarity with architecture frameworks or methods (eg. TOGAF concepts, C4 model, or equivalent practical experience)
  • 10+ years of project experience in a hands-on solution and architecture design role
  • Salesforce Sales and Service Cloud implementation

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $159,000 - $168,000. Base salary is dependent on relevant factors, including experience, geographic location, and job requirements.
