The Head of Engineering will oversee a dynamic engineering function comprising cross-functional agile delivery teams. Your primary responsibilities include fostering team performance, maintaining team health, and cultivating a positive team culture. Additionally, they establish the technological direction and ensure that both team and technical capabilities align with present and future business requirements.

 

 

Your Responsibilities...

 

  • Define the technical vision, strategy and roadmap in alignment with business stakeholders
  • Oversee all engineering operations and ensure that initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Manage the engineering team and ensure that team members are working effectively to deliver high-quality projects
  • Develop and implement engineering processes and procedures to improve efficiency, quality and security of engineering operations
  • Partner with the business to understand customer and business needs and deliver products that meet those needs
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices and ensure that the engineering team is following these 
  • Ensure that the engineering team is following all relevant regulations and standards, including safety regulations and industry standards
  • Manage the engineering budget, including setting budgets for individual initiatives and ensure that spending is within budgeted amounts

 

 

Your Accountabilities...

 

Software Engineering

  • Provide strategic direction to technology team
  • Oversee all engineering operations, including business analysis, architecture, software engineering, quality assurance, and support
  • Identify and adopt technology innovations that drive business performance
  • Ensure technical quality while managing cyber security risk
  • Manage and measure the effectiveness of engineering teams

 

Agile Delivery

 

  • Create and nurture high performing teams
  • Accountable for the agile delivery practice, including roadmaps, forecasts, estimation, capacity planning, stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Manage and track risks and issues
  • Manage budgets, resources, and constraints

 

Leadership

  • Provide technical expertise to teams and the business
  • Develop strong product knowledge
  • Set OKRs and manage team and individual performance supporting team members development and growth
  • Partner with product & business stakeholders
  • Analyse and evolve the team’s capability to support customer and business needs

 

 

Knowledge/Experience Requirements...

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of engineering management experience, leading teams and delivering quality products
  • Proficient in engineering principles, software development, and product design
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and processes
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
