The Senior Operational Risk Analyst at Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks across the business. This role supports the design, development and implementation of risk frameworks, including fraud prevention, detection, and response strategies within the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves collaborating with various partners and stakeholders to ensure robust operational risk management practices are in place, provide specialist advice on investigations and operational risk related matters to embed a strong risk culture
Day to day you’ll be…
Provide expert advice on fraud prevention, detection, and response
Monitor key transactions to detect unusual patterns and potential fraud
Prepare regular reports on fraud trends, KPIs, and incident outcomes
Support audits and compliance reviews related to program operations
Stay current with industry best practices and emerging fraud tactics
Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement fraud prevention strategies
Promote a culture of robust risk management and continuous improvement
Develop and maintain fraud detection rules, alerts, and machine learning models
Investigate suspicious activity and coordinate with internal teams to resolve incidents
Conduct root cause analysis and recommend process improvements to reduce risk exposure
Design, develop and implement operational risk frameworks, documentation, assessments and policies

Strong understanding of Australian regulations
Experience in control assurance and incident management
5+ years of experience in operational risk, compliance, or audit
Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field
Demonstrated deep and broad experience as an operational risk subject matter expert across investigations, risk advisory, and fraud monitoring techniques
In-depth knowledge of current fraud trends and typologies, with strong skills in fraud prevention, detection, mitigation, and investigation
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior leadership stakeholders
A proactive self-starter, with excellent organisational skills, capable of working independently and within a team
